Events

Come as you are.

Our calendar fills up each semester — here’s what’s coming up, a look back at recent gatherings, and the weekly programs that run all year. Everyone is welcome. Times are Eastern (ET).

Recent gatherings

Faith Fair

Our table at the 4th annual Faith Fair on the Campus Commons — questions about Islam, trivia, and dates to share, alongside faith groups from campus and town.

Financial Literacy Workshop

“Credit & Your Financial Future” — a free workshop with Breakwater Federal Credit Union on building, using, and protecting your credit, open to all MTU students and families.

Festival of Nations

MSA cooked and served all day at the 37th Annual Festival of Nations — mandi, baklava, gulab jamun, and a dessert duo for the whole Keweenaw.

End of Summer Water Day

Games on the grass, a potluck under the pavilion where everyone brought something, and welcome boxes for our newcomers — one last summer day together.

K-Day 2026

We welcomed new Huskies at Table 11 for Michigan Tech’s K-Day — free snacks, trivia, and great conversations. Everyone is welcome.

Family Hiking & Scenic Trip

A bus full of families up the Keweenaw — Great Sand Bay, a fog-wrapped Brockway Mountain, and Copper Harbor. Worth every minute.

Weekly & ongoing

Beyond seasonal events, these gatherings run throughout the year at the MSA Masjid (2001 Woodmar Dr). New to MTU? Any of them is a good place to start.

  • Friday Sermon (Jumu’ah) — every Friday at the masjid. See the prayer times page for this week’s time.
  • Five daily prayers — held daily in congregation at the masjid.
  • Men’s & Ladies’ weekly Halaqah — weekly study circles for brothers and sisters.
  • Sunday Children’s Madrasa — on pause for now. We’re working to bring back weekly Qur’an and Arabic for kids.
  • Ramadan community iftars — nightly during Ramadan, with a Grand Iftar mid-month.
