Financial Literacy Workshop

  • Date:
  • Time: 5–6 PM ET
  • Place: MUB Alumni Lounge B
Flyer for the free workshop Credit & Your Financial Future: How to Build It, Use It, & Protect It, from the Muslim Students Association and Breakwater Federal Credit Union.

“Credit & Your Financial Future” — a free workshop with Breakwater Federal Credit Union on building, using, and protecting your credit, open to all MTU students and families.

The hour focused on practical credit basics: how credit works in the United States and how to manage it with confidence. Guests were invited to grab a donut and a drink, find a seat, and ask questions at any point during the workshop.

The recap slide summed it up: strong credit is built over time through consistent, responsible habits. That means paying bills on time, keeping credit card balances manageable, borrowing only what you can afford to repay, comparing options before applying for new credit, checking your credit reports regularly, and protecting your personal and financial information.

On the agenda

  • Establishing credit in the U.S.
  • Credit scores and reports
  • What impacts your credit
  • Building and maintaining healthy credit

It was the second workshop in our series with Breakwater, after an earlier session on financial life in the U.S. Thank you to Breakwater Federal Credit Union for sharing their expertise with our community, and to everyone who joined us.
